Q.
학교 선배는 “older friend from school,” “senior at school” 등의 표현이 있으며, 졸업한 선배는 “alumnus,” 졸업한 선배들은 “alumni”라고 합니다.
직장 선배는 “older colleague,” “senior at work” 등의 표현이 있으며, 퇴사한 선배는 “someone who used to work at our company”라고 하면 됩니다.
학교 후배는 “younger friend from school,” “someone who is a year/two years below me at school” 등으로 표현할 수 있습니다. 졸업생의 입장에서는 “someone who goes to the school I graduated from”입니다.
직장 후배는 “younger colleague,” “my junior at work” 등의 표현이 있습니다. 퇴사한 사람의 입장에서는 “someone who works at the company I used to work at”이라고 하면 됩니다.
인생 선배는 “someone who has lived longer than someone else,” “someone who has a lot of years behind them,” “someone who has been through it all” 등으로 표현할 수 있습니다.
인생 후배로는 “someone younger,” “someone who has his/her whole life ahead of them,” “someone who is less experienced” 등의 표현이 있습니다.
I had some questions about the project at school, so I decided to ask my seniors for advice.
I get a lot of styling tips from some of my younger friends at school.
An alumnus of our school came to give us a lecture on how to succeed in the corporate world.
As someone who has already been through it all, I have to tell you that things are not going to get any easier.
This is my friend from college.
This is my friend from high school.
